Things to Consider Before Making Your Bay Window Treatments Purchase
Before you purchase your bay window treatments, there are three main things which you need to consider; privacy, protection, practicality.
Privacy: will people be able to see in? Sheer fabrics like lace or silk are great during the day to let the light and the warmth of the outside in. At night time, however, sheer fabrics can become almost transparent, and prowlers are more likely to be able to see into your room even with the curtains shut. If you want a sheer fabric, add metallic blinds behind it.
Protection: protecting your carpet against the sun. Again, the problem lies with sheer fabrics. With the constant stream of the sun beating down on carpet, the area will fade quickly. A block out backing will prevent this from happening.
Practicality: what are you doing with the bay window? If you're putting a seat there, then you will have to keep this in mind when picking a window treatment, both in terms of size and choice.
